This mealworm pattern should do the trick.
Dai-ichi swimming nymph hook
Lead tape wrapped along hook shank (I went with tape to keep the profile thin like the actual bug)
Latex rubber glove-cut in a strip, wrapped for the body
6 lb flourocarbon (ribbing)
Prismacolor markers for coloring
The epoxy of your choice
I will take a dozen!!!
ReplyDeletehehe If you're serious, let me know. I'll knock out a dozen for you at a really good price.
DeleteThey might look strange in my fly box. If I ever tie them up, I'll have to keep them in a styrofoam worm cup.haha. nice looking realistic tie!
ReplyDeletethanks and yes, they look weird in the box.
DeleteVery nice tie Mike. I've tied some similar without even thinking that one that color would look like a mealworm.
ReplyDeleteyeah Im thinking if you dub one end, you could easily get them to pass for a caddis on fish that arent too picky.
DeleteVery nice flies. I've tied them with Thin skin but they did not come out as good as yours.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I would think Thin Skin wouldnt be as stretchable.
DeleteIt wasn't. That is why your look great and mine are lumpy.
ReplyDeleteSo while I was at the doctors today, I did get a few latex gloves. What size hook did you use?
Thanks,
Bill
Size 10 or 12 Dai-ichi
DeleteSweet waxy looking grub. Like the colors in there.
