I stopped counting at 15 (Thanks Irene!)

Had three hours to fish late this afternoon. Flows were up from hurricane runoff, water was only slightly discolored, and fish were ACTIVE. One of the best days I had this year, and there weren't even any hatches coming off. I caught bows, browns, and brookies. Looped San Juan worm in pink was the big winner on the brookies, while the bows and browns smashed eggs, nymphs, and streamers.

I stopped counting at 15 fish around the two hour mark, but I know I left with over 20 to hand, all released. I'd say about 60% were stocked, but I'm not complaining. :)

I want to say I wish all days on the water were like this, but on second thought, I think I would miss the challenge of tough fish.

Heres some shots of beauties from all three species.

  1. Awesome trip! I was out fishing for Smallmouth on Tuesday and although I only had about an hour on the water I managed to bring in a couple. I could tell the fish were REALLY active. Hoping it carries over to this weekend.

  2. Thanks for commenting. We gotta get together and fish sometime. EB Perk is being stocked on 10/4 and the Olive hatch is pretty good around then. Let me know if you wanna meet up sometime.
